Child's Play Challenges

Howdy folks

Yep it's a new month...and OH MY GOODNESS it's October already!!!

I'm really not liking how this year is practically over already...

The challenge over at Child's Play Challenges this month is Barbie

Didn't we all have a Barbie doll when were little....my brother and my eldest son even had versions of Barbie when they were little. My son once told met that his Barbie needed a Ken....being a single parent at the time, I quickly explained to him that I didn't have a man in my life so Barbie didn't need one either....thankfully he was happy with that and didn't ask again...LOL

I used the colour pink that we all associate with Barbie as my inspiration. And since I think of P!nk every time I think of pink (does that make sense??) I decided to use one of my photos from her concert we attended recently. It was an absolutely awesome concert and loved every single second of it!!

A Little Bit Of Fun

Hey there

Let's hope Blogger is playing nice tonight because the other night it was being a little stinker!!!

So I did these 2 projects the other week just because I felt like it.

Here is the first one

A friend had done one of these and that inspired me to come home and do this one...

she was so excited that she had inspired me!! LOL

The butterfly and the papers are from Kaisercraft and the flowers are hand made and Green Tara.

The second project I did, I had half finished months ago...I completed the skirt ages ago but just couldn't decide what to do with the top half........well it hit me the other day.......so I completed it in no time :)

 

I love how it finished up...soo pretty...and yes I wound every single rose onto the wire skirt....it's meant to be a jewellery stand but this is what I saw when I found it in the shop!!

Another challenge blog

Hi y'all

I've been seeing this challenge blog advertised and promoted around a bit lately 

and since it is run by a lovely lady that I met at Camp Mojo, I decided that I would go check it out.

The blog is called Archi-scraps

and takes it's inspiration from different buildings and architecture.

They are also having a design team call.

So the inspiration picture for this month is this

 

I love the scroll work on the window.

Here is my page taking inspiration from the picture

 Went to town a little on this one....love doing a grungy boy page!!

I took inspiration from the colours of the window, the pattern to a degree (on the background) and the arch. It was kind of cool that the ropes on the photo almost fitted in with the pattern on the arch.

I have also decided that I am going to apply for the design team with this page so wish me luck!! :)

I'M BACK

Hi everybody...I'm back!!

I have been soo busy with kids and their sport and end of season break ups and so on and so on....

Firstly I will upload the challenges that are live at the moment.

Child's Play Challenges has a challenge for Blues Clues at the moment.

I took the inspiration form the colour of Blue and the spots on Blue's coat amongst other things.

Then there is the page that I created for Child's Play Challenges but lost track of time in between going away to a scrap retreat, helping a random stranger after he hit a kangaroo and damaged his car beyond all help, running around after children and then just life in general...I was too late to upload it for the challenge.

Yes that is me wrapped around Tim Holtz...I was lucky enough to do one of his classes when he came to Australia last time.

This month is a special month because we have a brights special....so there is a range of colours to use on your page.

The twist is heat or dry embossing...a good twist if you ask me...I have sooo many embossing powders that I don't play with anywhere near enough.

I altered the sketch a little to suit the one photo and I have had that title for the longest time just waiting for the perfect photo to accompany it.

I kind of liked the sketch and thought why not give it a go!!

Did this on a canvas...I was busting to create with one of my new Julie Nutting Doll Stamps. 

They are awesome to use and I think I am in love!!

To qualify for the Sketches With A Twist challenge, you need to do a layout using the sketch that Annette Gearside designed and you need to add the twist which is safety pins (I bent the pins into heart shapes)

To qualify for the Show Us Your Stuff challenge, you need to do a layout using the same sketch and add something handmade. My handmade is the background of my layout.

Include these things on your layout and you can upload your page onto both challenges...awesome!!!

Child's Play Challenges

Time for a new challenge over at Child's Play Challenges

Everybody remembers the good old game of Operation!!

I remember jumping out of my skin when I touched the side and sent the buzzer off!!

So here is my take of the picture

 

I took inspiration from the colours of the game, the red border around the game and then cut the stars out and put paper behind them to be like the holes that the small pieces are sitting in.

Sketches With A Twist

GUESS WHAT!!!!

I am on another design team...

This one is called Sketches With A Twist and is full of awesome talent!!

I feel very lucky to be involved with these lovely group of ladies, some I have known for quite some time, some I am only just meeting now.

So, the object of this challenge blog is that we get given a sketch and then there is a twist to go with that sketch.

The month is nearly over but there is still time to get your page done....

Black With 2

I have been very slack with my blogging for this last month :(

The month is nearly finished but there is still time to get your challenge in at Black With 2.

Lots of colour and good memories associated with this one...

When Braiden was younger we used to watch this show all the time.

The songs and the characters and the bright colours are all very attractive for a young child and Braiden used to love it!!

So here is my page using the picture above

 

Once again I used all the colours as inspiration. 

And since it was Braiden that used to watch the show it's kind of fitting the photos are of him.

I also found a print up of Mickey Mouse so I printed it twice and coloured it to use it on the page.

Hey hey all...me again!! 

Time for a page for Child's Play Challenges

The inspiration this time is a picture of buttons!!!

 

Now who doesn't love buttons.....I know I do!!

I have an old tin full of them and I love digging through them and letting them run through my fingers....there's something about the noise and the feel of them that I love *sigh* hehe

So I have heaps and heaps of buttons of all different shapes and sizes so I went a little ballistic with this page....but I had an absolute and total ball doing this page!!!

So here it is

This is the inspiration for this month

 

Makes me think of very pretty, heritage colours.

And here is my page

 

The photo is a picture I found on the internet that I fell in love with.

And under the photo is a big strip of paperbark from one of the paperbark gum trees we cut down in the back yard. I left it dry out before I used it. The colour was perfect for this challenge. Add in some corrugated cardboard, hand dyed string and roses made from glassine paper and you have the finished product

I've just been to a retreat with a bunch of lovely women that mostly scrap in the Creative Memories style. Since I didn't take any supplies with me to do this page I used a Creative Memories kit to do it, just adding my style to it.

And here is what I created

 

I took inspiration from the colours since Guess Who is game with lots of colours in it.
